June, July...

Haven't posted for a while I'm so bad at this whole blog thing, not the best writer either.

Back on June 5th I had gum surgery to repair 5mm of recession on the right side of my mouth. They want me to do it again to the left side of my mouth in six months...what I can tell you is that it won't be in 6 months, that's for sure! Especially if they take the tissue from my palate again, that was absolutely horrible. Just glad it's done with.

The 4th of July was pretty good, I hid from all the crowds during the day, it is the single most busy day of the year here. Cory had to work during the day, and was able to watch fireworks from both Show Low and the town of Taylor from our balcony that evening with me.

Cory and I are super excited that he has been approved for 2 weeks vacation to travel to Minnesota in August! Cory hasn't been back to MN since we moved out here the beginning of July 2007, so he's especially excited for this trip.

I've gotta share this video of our crazy Siamese rolling all over a plastic bag. She loves to chew on plastic of all types and gets excited whenever we open a new DVD, she'll come up and grab the plastic wrapping right out of our hands!

A Little Bit of Catching Up

Well our birthdays have come and gone. We went to see the Watchmen for Cory's birthday that movie was MUCH too long for me, I was ready for it to be done an hour before the movie was actually was over!

I had one of the best birthdays in a while! My friend Val at work brought me flowers and brought breakfast, my boss took me out to lunch at my favorite place to eat in Show Low, Cory took me to my favorite Chinese restaurant in Pinetop, and our friends from downstairs brought me brownies! Pretty much everything revolved around food, but that was fine with me! Cory also bought me new perfume that I had just run out of!

This past weekend we went to the valley to celebrate our birthdays a little more, we stayed at the Francisco Grande in Casa Grande, AZ. Since I have managed to spend too much money on hotels through Travelocity we were upgraded to a much nicer room! (This happened on our last trip too, which is amazing since the Blakeslees NEVER seem to have good luck in this area!)

We went to a Coyotes Hockey game against the Vancouver Canucks. The Coyotes even managed to win!

While we were down there we also got a little bit of shopping in and I tried on a few wedding dresses while Cory kept busy at Best Buy.

We've been working hard on wedding plans, it seems as soon as one task is completed another one comes up that needs to be started.

Well, that's all I have time for now I have a Planning and Zoning Meeting that starts at 7pm.

Living Arrangement Drama

Well, I said I'd be back later and here I am nearly a month later... whoops!

Here's a little story about why Cory and I haven't moved, it's a good one.

Cory and I were planning on moving to save money. We found a cute, 2 bedroom, 2 bath duplex with a garage, super close to my work. It was also about $200 less a month than what we were currently paying. So, we submitted an application. We waited and waited and waited. Cory had called several times and wasn't able to get an answer, so I called. The owner informed me that he was about to make his decision, but he needed to talk to Cory, and it wasn't something he could talk to me about...this worried me.

Before all of this Cory had told me that he was getting a weird vibe from the duplex owner. It turns out that when Cory went to take a look at the duplex the neighbor looked really familiar, but he couldn't figure out why. One morning he came home from work and said he knew why the kid from the duplex looked familiar, Cory had arrested him several months earlier and then had arrested him again that night. Cory was getting really anxious and was feeling like MAYBE the kid he arrested was related to the guy who owned the duplex and they had the same last name. I mentioned that maybe it was just a coincidence and it would not make sense for the owner of the duplex to deny us a place to live just because Cory had arrested someone who was related to him.

Well the duplex owner finally called Cory, told him that we were the best applicants they had ever had and then asked if he'd have a problem with the neighbor. Cory said he didn't think so and said that he didn't think the kid had a problem with him when he arrested him...which is when the guy got VERY upset and basically accused Cory and the City of trying to run his son out of town and that the only reason we applied for the duplex was to keep an eye on his son. Like it was some conspiracy with the City (which is not the case at all!). In the end the owner of the duplex told us that he couldn't rent us the duplex due the fact that if he rented it to us his wife would make him sleep on the couch.

I was VERY upset that we didn't get the duplex and considered reporting it to the fair housing administration, however after talking with Cory we decided that it was probably best since the owner may not have been fair in dealing with us if we ever had a problem with anything.

Luckily we were able to renew our lease with our current apartment for a lower rate! It also meant that we didn't have to move again!!!

New Blog

I thought I should start a blog so people can keep track of what and how we're doing down in AZ. Right now I'm tired, I'll write more later!
